EXPODENTAL, the International Dental Equipment, Supplies and Services Show, an event organised by IFEMA in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies (FENIN), will bring together some 260 leading companies from the oral and dental health industry in Halls 12 and 14 at FERIA DE MADRID between 11th and 13th March. The exhibition area at this edition will measure 14,731 square metres. An important aspect of this edition consists of the fact that the vast majority of the companies taking part at the fair have participated at EXPODENTAL on previous occasions, which reflects the event's importance at a national level, as well as confirming its status as the second most important specialised event for the industry throughout Europe.

EXPODENTAL has, thus, become the largest trade showcase for innovation every two years, offering visitors key information regarding the latest advances under the heading of oral health technology, as well as the benefits and improvements that these pieces of equipment, products and services are able to offer professionals when it comes to performing their duties and treating and attending their patients.

As far as visitors are concerned, EXPODENTAL is an essential event for all members of the industry, attracting professionals from all sectors relating to oral and dental health, including the following: clinic assistants, maxillofacial surgeons, stomatologists, hygienists, laboratory representatives, dentists, orthodontists, prosthetists and students training in these specialised fields.

Among the numerous new features that will be on show at the fair on this occasion, we might mention the latest new 3D diagnostic imaging equipment, new CAD-CAM applications for the manufacture of dental prostheses and zirconium prostheses, intra-oral scanners, new brace designs, latest-generation endodontic systems, Class B autoclaves, more ergonomic dental equipment, etc.

Its most international edition
Out of the total number of participants, almost 20% will correspond to foreign companies, attending the fair from 12 different countries. Foreign participation at this eleventh edition will witness an increase of almost 12% compared to the edition staged in the year 2008, which confirms the growing projection of this event.

The strong interest on the part of foreign companies to take part at this trade forum - especially within the current economic climate in which they have become much more careful when carrying out their promotional investments - highlights the importance of this fair, in its capacity as a key point of reference for the industry worldwide. It also attests to the event's effectiveness as a means of generating contacts and securing deals.

Among the most strongly represented countries at the fair, we might mention the large numbers of participants from Italy, Germany, Denmark and France. Alongside these companies, the EXPODENTAL exhibition will also present the products and services of participants from Switzerland, the United States, Israel, Japan, Portugal, the United Kingdom, China and Korea.

24,000 dentists in Spain
In Spain there are, on average, five dentists for every one thousand inhabitants, according to figures furnished by the World Health Organisation (WHO), which estimates the total number of dentists at around 24,000. To these we must add another 9,000 dental hygienists and more than 7,500 laboratory technicians. This is an industry that features a slightly higher level of participation on the part of women compared to men, given that 53% of dental professionals are women and 47% are men.

Another aspect analysed by the WHO is the distribution of dental activity according type of services rendered. Thus, the vast majority of dentists provide their services at private clinics, specifically, more than 22,000 according to figures corresponding to the year 2008. To these professionals we must add another 1,200 dentists working for the State health system, whilst 340 professionals work at hospitals and military bases.

EXPODENTAL helps you to optimize your visit
In order to enable visitors to make the very most of their attendance at the fair, the organisers have set up a tool on the fair's web page, www.expodental.ifema.es, the TRADE MEETING-POINT. This tool enables visitors to request working appointments with the participating companies of greatest interest to them, whilst also enabling them to plan their visit to EXPODENTAL in advance, thus helping them to make the most of their time at the fair. Furthermore, visitors who register for the Trade Meeting-Point will receive information regarding the initiatives that the companies are going to implement throughout the course of the fair. In order to enjoy the benefits of this service, professionals must pre-register via the access-point that is also available on the web page. This registration will also provide them with direct access to the halls at EXPODENTAL, thus solving the problem of inconvenient queuing

EXPODENTAL opens its doors between 11th and 13th March, from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
